Gathering | Kohikohinga

An experience enjoyed by all ages, perfect for families.

Enjoy gathering local shellfish in the harbour (pipi, cockel and sea snails). Along the way we will explain the importance of preserving these traditional food resources for our future generations. You will also enjoy history of the area, stories of origin and genealogy. At the end of this experience you can sample the food we gather if you choose accompanied by some home made Māori bread.

Please bring along with you:

- Appropriate clothing and footwear

- Sunscreen, hat and insect repellent

- An appetite 


Please be aware that this experience is based on tidal times. Upon booking we will check our local tide times and confirm these with you. 

Spearing or dragging a net for Patiki (Flounder) or Kanae (Mullet) will be an alternative if the tides are right.
